He argues that the greatest damage from drugs flows from their being illegal, and sees a future where their use can be part of a responsible and happy life.

  • The Fellowship of the River by Dr. Tafur (2017) Western medicine has not been particularly successful at getting people relief from conditions like depression, chronic pain, migraine headaches, addiction, and PTSD. Dr. Tafur helps us to understand why.



  • The Way of the Psychonaut Volumes 1 + 2, by Stanislav Grof, MD, PhD (2019)
Dr. Grof is another prominent figure in the field. These volumes are the culmination of a life’s work of clinical study of the therapeutic value in supporting patients in exploring altered states of consciousness.

  • The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead by Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, and Richard Alpert (1964) A shorter read and a classic comparing deep psychedelic experiences to the bardo realms described by the Tibetan Book of the Dead

  • Be Here Now by Ram Dass (1971) Another classic on the subject of psychedelic use and personal transformation. Ram Dass gives his life story from his time as a prominent psychologist at Harvard to his spiritual awakening in India and the role that psychedelics played. It is more on the esoteric and soul side of things and a visually stunning book.
